Private Consulting Firm
Founder / Chief Operating Officer

William DiSalvatore is one of the Founders and is the Chief Operating Officer of a private consulting firm that advises both public and private companies with strategic planning, business development, organizational risk management, regulatory compliance and project management. He has teamed up with several biotech, pharmaceutical and financial services firms regarding intellectual property strategies and research plans. He has also assisted two commercial banking institutions with post-merger data processing system conversion and consolidation. His firm utilizes a network of professionals in accounting, financial services, intellectual property, law, risk management, regulatory compliance.

William began his career as an intellectual property and commercial litigation specialist who represented clients in a wide variety of technology related industries. He has served as lead counsel in patent litigations relating to genetically modified plants; litigated patent and trade secret disputes involving protein engineering and antibody evolution. William turned around a patent case brought against Creo Inc by Agfa Corporation. Creo specialized in computer-to-plate technology, a process that allows publishers to transfer digital images directly to a printing press without using film. Creo was sued on six US patents that had issued to Agfa. After examining them, he and his team became convinced that Agfa’s technology was based on inventions that Creo and others, had developed. Creo countersued claiming that the patents were invalid and unenforceable because Agfa had intentionally failed to disclose prior art information to the US Patent and Trademark Office during prosecution of its patents. The team convinced Boston federal court Judge George O’Toole to hold a bench trial on this issue of Agfa’s inequitable conduct. After a 17-day bench trial, the court found that Agfa’s patents were unenforceable and awarded Creo $2.74 million in fees. The case was affirmed on appeal.

William obtained extensive global contacts from his experience in matters before the US International Trade Commission. The ITC hears disputes relating to the unfair and unlawful importation of goods into the US that infringe US patents. He has advised companies dealing with importation from Israel, Russia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China.

Over time, William expanded his practice to include client counseling where he represented clients in matters ranging from the strategic licensing of chemical processes for the manufacture of AIDS pharmaceuticals to the acquisition of rights related to electronic digital switching for long distance phone service. He has advised corporations dealing with foreign trade restrictions and cross border competition. William has also worked with US officials in preparing for meetings with trade representatives from China regarding its rules that require exporters of certain types of food to apply for safety certificates stating that the goods are harmless to humans, animals and the environment.

In 2005 and 2006, William was recognized for his work in Chambers Global: The World’s Leading Lawyers. In 2002, William was listed as one of the National Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40.”
